Committee on the Ombudsman, the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission and the Crime Commission

The Committee on the Office of the Ombudsman, the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission and the Crime Commission is a current statutory committee of the NSW Parliament.

 

The Committee’s functions relate to the following agencies:

  • NSW Ombudsman (including the Child Death Review Team)  
  • Law Enforcement Conduct Commission  
  • NSW Crime Commission (including the Commission’s Management Committee)  
  • Information Commissioner  
  • Privacy Commissioner  
  • Inspector of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission  
  • Inspector of Custodial Services
  • NSW Public Service Commissioner

 

The Committee reviews and reports to Parliament on the performance of these agencies and on their annual and other reports. The Committee’s functions can be found in various legislation, for example, the Ombudsman Act 1974, the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016 and the Crime Commission Act 2012.    

 

The Committee cannot investigate or reconsider the agencies’ decisions or recommendations about specific complaints or investigations.
