C1290 - Costing
The Parliamentary Budget Office has received requests to cost proposed policies for the ALP to match the Government's commitment to treat domestic violence victims as first home buyers and, to waive Rentstart Bond Loan eligibility for domestic violence victims.
The PBO advised the Leader of the Opposition it was not able to cost the policy proposals reliably in the time available before the election. This would have been a complex costing exercise, given the Opposition's first home buyers proposals differ in many important respects to those of the Government. The PBO notes however that the intention of the policy is to match the Government's proposed policy, a costing of which has been published by the PBO, so it would be reasonable to assume the costs are roughly comparable.
