The Schools Reconciliation Challenge encourages creativity, curiosity and deep engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives. Each year, students from Years 3-10 create artworks and stories inspired by reconciliation and reflect on what reconciliation means to them.
The 2024 theme, “Learning from Legacy: Healing Our Country,” invited students to reflect on the continuity of Aboriginal knowledges and how they have been passed down over generations, and explore these knowledge systems across land management, sustainability, history, geology and community.
Students expressed their learning through thoughtful artworks and stories that highlight the richness and relevance of First Nations knowledge today, and Reconciliation NSW are proud to showcase these creative responses and celebrate the insight and care students have brought to this year’s Challenge.
This exhibition is being hosted at NSW Parliament by the Hon Prue Car, Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Early Learning, and Minister for Western Sydney.
