Tertiary education programs

Tertiary programs are developed and delivered by Parliamentary Education across a number of different subject areas and can be tailored to the lecturer’s needs.

Social Policy Program: a guide to how the Legislature works

This program specially designed for Social Welfare, Social Policy and Law students covers how the parliament works and how policy is made and influenced by segments of society. It includes a tour of the Chambers, an explanation of the roles of the Members of Parliament and Committees in the drafting, amending and making of policy and law. During the program students meet a Member of Parliament who will talk about his/her role. They will also meet Parliamentary Committees staff to discuss the role of committees in making recommendations to Government on social policy issues.
