Became Rector's Warden of All Saints Church for nine years and Captain of the local cricket club. member of the committee of the Albury and Border Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural Society and officiated at local races. Became chairman of the Albury district's sheep directors and his Lincoln rams won prizes at the 1978 show.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Pastoralist. Educated at Horton College, Ross, and privately tutored. Travelled to North Queensland in 1864, engaging in pastoral pursuits in the Gulf Country; Returned to Tasmania and became council clerk at Glamorgan 1865 until 1875 when he moved to New South Wales. Pastoralist at Camberoona, near Albury, from 1875. Moved to Sydney about 1887 and had a residence at Katoomba and later lived at North Sydney. Member Federal Convention 1897; participated in the Colonial Conference and Navigation Conference, London 1907.
