Went to Temora gold rush in 1881. Also traded at Barmedman, Wyalong, Forbes and Sydney. Firm known at John Meagher & Co. Active at Bathurst conference for Federation. Advocate of Temora Wyalong railway. Member of Australasian Catholic Congress of 1909; organised support for Home Rule; visited Ireland in 1914.
