Retired journalist. Worked in printing house in England. Arrived in New South Wales in 1851. Joined Sydney Morning Herald on arrival and remained with it until 1861, except for a year at gold diggings. Purchased a newspaper and travelled abroad. No later occupation and resided at Enmore at death.
