Qualifications, occupations and interests
Pastoralist and landowner. Educated at Maitland by Reverend John Gregor and Reverend Thomas Aitken. Qualified as a surveyor. Inherited Edinglassie estate from father and lived there for a long time. With two brothers leased Belltrees, W.C Wentworths freehold estate near Scone, in 1848; Purchased it in 1853. Lived there from 1853 until 1863. Returned to Edinglassie in 1863. Acquired freehold property in Hunter Valley and took up stations in Liverpool Plains and New England districts. Chairman of bench of magistrates at Muswellbrook. President of local hospital board and agricultural society. Brother of James White.
