Qualifications, occupations and interests
Journalist-proprieter; poet. In 1847 became editor and co-proprieter of 'Bells Life', continuing in that role until at least 1868. He wrote a play in 1847, 'Lough Deargh's Shrine, or The Cave of Penance'; and published a book of poems in 1852. A manuscript copy of the play is held by NSW State Records, SEE series NRS 908. The play was performed at the Royal Victoria Theatre in Sydney (Pitt Street, between King and Market Streets) on 13 December 1847. He contested the seat of Camden East in 1856 but was not elected.
