Became an information officer at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation Irrigation Research Laboratory, transferred to Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area Agricultural Extension service, extension studies at University of California and in service training at Department of Agriculture in the United States of America; in Italy sponsored by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation in 1956; overseas missions in 1959, 1962; Commissioner for Community Relations in 1975; director of Griffith Base Hospital; president of Griffith Old People's Welfare Council and Griffith Good Neighbour Council
