Additional Information
Won the seat of Oxley following a by election when his predecessor Bruce Cowan, the father-in-law of former Premier Barry O’Farrell, resigned to successfully contested the House of Representatives seat of Lyne. His short career as a member of the Legislative Assembly was due to the electoral re-distribution for the 1981 general election. The neighbouring Country Party seat of Raleigh was abolished and the incumbent Jim Brown successfully challenged Peter King for preselection to contest Oxley on 19 September 1981.
