Seed and agricultural machinery merchant. Educated at Grafton High School; on staff of Coastal Farmers Society (later producers Distributing Society) from 1914 until 1918. Became a banana grower at Billinudgel from 1919 until 1922; opened a seed business in Lismore in 1923 and Casino in 1948, Kyogle in 1952; purchased a seed firm of Foster and Sons, Sydney which as E.J Eggins, Foster and Sons extended to agricultural machinery; director of other companies; purchased a dairy farm near Lismore in 1944 in partnership with W.A Walmsley (q.v); president of the North Coast National Agricultural and Industrial Society from 1934 until 1950; councillor with the National Roads and Motorists Association from 1951 until 1952 and the Royal Agricultural Society from 1940 until 1952; chairman of wartime Commonwealth Live Stock Disposal Committee; director of Lismore Base Hospital; official guest of the South African government in 1947; Rotarian; Freemason.
