Educated at Cobar covent school, apprenticed as a hairdresser to M.A Davidson, Cobar; family moved to Sydney in 1911; active hairdressers and Wigmakers Employees Union, vice president in 1919, president in 1920, organiser from 1922 until 1942, secretary from 1942 until 1953; New South Wales Agent General in London from 1954 until 1965; foundation member of Marrickville Businessmen's Club; member of Marrickville Hospital Board; member of Westminster Rotary Club from 1954 until 1965, president two years; charitable work for Sacred Heart Hospice, Darlinghurst; keen sportsman and racegoer.
