Educated at Wagga Wagga public school; carpenter by trade; moved to Maitland in 1900, became a builder on own account in 1908; director of Maitland Starr-Bowkett Society ; helped to found Maitland Police and Citizens' Boys' Club; associated with number of sporting organisations; after retirement sponsored a Western Suburbs Progress Association
