Educated at Walaroi College, Orange, Bathurst Experimental Farm, Hawkesbury Agricultural College; went on to family grazing property at Buddah near Narromine, first to grow citrus fruit in Narromine area; president of Narromine Agricultural Society; councillor of Graziers' Association from 1937 until 1946. Recreational interests include cricket, football and tennis.
