Qualifications, occupations and interests
Engineer and company promoter. Educated in a public school and and Christian Brothers College in Adelaide. In youth worked for a farmer at Terowrie, South Australia; moved to other districts then to the Western Coast of Tasmania; at a later time in Sydney became associated with a firm dealing in tractors; engineer with Australian Institute of Engineers; as their representative in Queensland met Thomas Purcell who later financed Purcell Engineering Company Limited, of which Malone was managing director until 1928; also director of Engineer and Saw Mill Supply Company Limited, and Australian Ball and Roller Bearing Company Limited; visited United States of America in 1927 in a move to establish motor car manufacturing in Australia; promoter and managing director of Australian Made Motor Cars and Aeroplanes Limited; in partnership with W.H White as consulting engineers from 1934 until 1936; held share in mining company at Sofala. Member of Australian Jockey Club.
