Educated at Grenfell Public School and Fort Street Training school in 1896; teacher with Department of Education at Wombat from 1891 until 1892, Grenfell from 1892 until 1896, at Willoughby and in Penrith district in 1987 until 1988. Fort Street Public School from 1898 until 1903; clerk in Attorney General's Department in 1903; evening student at University of Sydney; LLB 1904; called to the Bar in 1904, barrister specialising in company law; appointed Chief Industrial Commissioner in New South Wales with the status of Supreme Court Judge in 1932, resigned in 1942, ill-health; treasurer of the Bar Council of New South Wales in 1922; committee member of Civil Ambulance Brigade.
