Qualifications, occupations and interests
Farmer. As a child lived in Young, Grenfell and Balmain after 1880 when his father became a moderator of the Presbyterian church of New South Wales. Educated at Fort Street public school; from age sixteen spent several years as a drover, shearer, station and farm hand before acquiring a small property at Grassdale near Grenfell in 1891; became a bankrupt in 1895, discharged in 1896; stock and station agent; later owned Glen Esk near Grenfell; member of Farmers and Settlers Association in 1912.

Personal
Son of George Grimm, Presbyterian minister, and Mary Hetherington. Married Jane Eliza Stinson on 27 June 1900 and had issue, 2 daughters and 3 sons. Presbyterian. Funeral at Northern Suburbs crematorium from Presbyterian Church in Manly.
