Newspaper Proprieter. Educated at Nelsons Plains and Raymond Terrace public schools; farming experience; went into office of Gloucester Gazette, moved to Sydney; joined a printing partnership, returned to Raymond Terrace in 1893 to establish in partnership with George Hill 'The Examiner' after partnership dissolved, remained editor and sole owner until his death; assisted to found the Raymond Terrace Co-operative Dairy Company in 1903 which later became the Hunter Valley Dairy Company; member of Farmers and Settlers' Association, Chamber of Commerce and the School of the Arts; keen cricketer; freemason; Church of England.
