Qualifications, occupations and interests
Storekeeper. Educated at Shellharbour and Kiama public schools. Established the Allen Brothers' grocery at Shellharbour and became postmaster. Between 1904-1910 he was the proprietor and editor of the Illawarra Mercury and between 1910-1914 proprietor and owner of the Gulgong Advertiser. Moved to Sydney and became the South and Western districts representative for the Sydney Morning Herald. Retired in 1930.
