Political Party Activity

Peter Poulos has been a member of the Liberal Party of Australia (NSW Division) since 1993 and was previously elected Urban Vice President during the term when the Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO was Party President. He was a member of the NSW State Executive, Liberal Party of Australia, NSW Division (2008-2012), Chair of the Local Government Oversight Committee, Former Treasurer of Liberal Friends of Greece, Member of the Convention Committee and held numerous office bearer positions and campaign related roles.

 

Peter was a Policy Adviser to the Minister for Energy and Environment, the Honourable Matt Kean MP. He previously worked for several Members of Parliament including for a period in Wollongong with Senator the Honourable Concetta Fierravanti-Wells.

Community Activity
Peter and his family attend the Parish of St Stephanos Greek Orthodox Church in Hurlstone Park.
Qualifications, occupations and interests

Peter attended Bexley North Public School and Sydney Technical High School. He has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance from the University of New South Wales (1998). After graduating, he worked in Banking and Finance.

 

He is an ardent supporter of the Parramatta Eels and Sydney FC.

 

On 22 December 2021, Peter was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Wollongong and the Illawarra.

He was a former Councillor on Rockdale City Council (2004-2016) and served a term as Deputy Mayor.
Personal

Peter was raised in Bardwell Park. He is the son of Greek migrants, John and Maria Poulos who operated their own family run small business.

 

Mr Poulos is married to Vicki Poulos, who is a former Councillor on Bayside Council and together they have three children.
