Lawyer (Barrister). Educated at St Patrick's College., Goulburn and University of Sydney; employed in Lands Department, cadet draftsman, Wagga Wagga, Moree and Sydney from 1910 until 1914; war service and then re-employed in Lands department including Returned Soldiers' Settlement Branch, studied law part time, LLB in 1927, called to Bar in 1927, began practice in 1931; District Court judge in 1943; appointed to New South Wales Industrial Commission with status of Supreme Court Judge in 1943, judge of Supreme Court from 1950 until 1963; active in returned servicemen's associations, chairman of United Returned Soldiers' Fund; member of St Vincent's Hospital Board from 1954 until 1967, chairman from 1961 until 1967; president of the Anti-Tuberculosis Association of New South Wales.

Served in the Australian Infantry Forces from August 1914, 2nd, 54th and 56th Battalions, Gallipoli and Flanders, Lieutenant.
