Qualifications, occupations and interests
Auctioneer. Initially a farmer in West Maitland, later becoming an auctioneer and stock agent. Manufacturer; storekeeper; company director. By 1866 held five properties in New South Wales as a squatter. After retiring from business, he visited England and then settled in Sydney. He became the Director of the Bank of New South Wales and of the Life Assurance Company.
