Patron of a number of community, school and sporting organisations including the following: the Albury and District Historical Society, the Albury City Band, St Matthews Bellringers, the Combined Pensioners and Superannuates Association, the Walbundrie Primary School Sports Association, the Albury Branch of the New South Wales Justices Association, Personnel Employment, the Albury Base Hospital Race Auxiliary.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Marine Engineer. Served an apprenticeship as a fitter and turner. Marine Engineering Certificate, Sydney Technical College, Commonwealth Department of Transport, 2nd class steam certificate - Marine Engineers. Spent 5 years at sea as Marine Engineer; 10 years as a farmer. Owned a small family business in Albury for 18 years. Recreational interests include gardening, Rotary and Anglican Church.
Military Service
6 months National Service in Royal Australian Air Force.
Honours Received
Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) 2006; received posthumously by his wife in April 2006.
