(1) How many silicosis claims for compensation have been made to icare's Dust Diseases Care in each month for the 2019/2020 financial year to date?

(2) How many claims for medical examination for people exposed to harmful dust at a New South Wales workplace have been made to icare's Dust Diseases Care in:

(a) 2019/20 financial year to date?

(b) 2018/19 financial year?

 

Answer -

(1) July 2019 – 16; August 2019 – 8; September 2019 – 6; October 2019 – 16; November 2019 – 10; December 2019 – 9; January 2020 – 10; February 2020 – 8; March 2020 – 9; April 2020 – 14; May 2020 – 6; June 2020 – 3.

(2) A claim is not required to access medical screening through Dust Diseases Care. A Request for Medical Examination is a formal request for lung screening by an individual who believes they have previously been exposed to hazardous dust in an occupational environment.

(a) There were 272 Requests for Medical Examination in the 2019/20 financial year.

(b) There were 230 Requests for Medical Examination in the 2018/19 financial year.
