Inquiry into Protocols for execution of search warrants on members' offices

This inquiry was established on 6 April 2005 to inquire into and report on protocols and the procedures to be followed by law enforcement agencies and investigative bodies when they are executing search warrants on the offices of members of parliament

Resolution passed 6 April 2005, Minutes No. 98, Item 3 page 1313

That the Privileges Committee inquire into and report on appropriate protocols to be adopted for the execution of search warrants on members’ offices by law enforcement agencies and investigative bodies, and in particular the procedures to be followed:

(a) in obtaining a search warrant,

(b) prior to executing a search warrant,

(c) in executing a search warrant,

(d) if privilege or immunity is claimed, and

(e) for the resolution of disputed claims of privilege.
