Inquiry into sections 13 and 13B of the Constitutions Act 1902

The closing date for submissions is Monday 21 May 2001. Advertisement calling for submissions:

Resolution passed 25 May 1999, 1st Session, Minutes No. 4, pp 83-5.

Inquiry into certain qualifications for membership of Parliament (sections 13 and 13B of the NSW Constitution Act 1902)

That the Standing Committee on Parliamentary Privilege and Ethics inquire into and report on: the suitability and contemporary relevance of the present provisions under the Constitution Act 1902 relating to Members of Parliament: having contracts or agreements with the Public Service; or holding offices of profit under the Crown; and proposals for reform of those provisions (Minutes No. 82, 24 June 1997, p. 858)

That the Standing Committee on Parliamentary Privilege and Ethics is to inquire into and report on the office of profit under the Crown, referred to the Committee in the previous Parliament and not disposed of.

That in considering this reference the Committee may review any evidence, submissions, documents and records of the previous Committee. (Minutes No. , 25 May 1999, p. 85)

Note: The Committee is conducting the office of profit part of this inquiry jointly with the Legislative Assembly Standing Ethics Committee.
