Issues Relating to the Cross City Tunnel

On 10 November 2005, GPSC 4 resolved to adopt terms of reference for an inquiry into the Cross City Tunnel. On 15 November 2005, the Legislative Council resolved to establish a Joint Select Committee into the Cross City Tunnel. Item 9 of the resolution stated: ...that it also be an instruction to Legislative Council General Purpose Standing Committee No. 4 to not undertake any inquiry into the cross-city tunnel or related matters. The Legislative Assembly considered the Legislative Council's resolution to establish a Joint Select Committee on Wednesday 16 November 2005, and resolved that such a committee be established. Accordingly, the proposed inquiry by GPSC4 into the Cross City Tunnel cannot continue.
This inquiry was self-referred on 10 November 2005.
