Report on Matters arising from the General Meeting with the Commissioner of the ICAC, 27 November 2000
Resolution passed 13 May 1999, 1st Session, Minutes No. 3, p 61. That under section 63 of the Independent Commission Against Corruption Act 1988, a Joint Committee known as the Committee on the Independent Commission Against Corruption be appointed. That under section 65 (1) (a) of the Independent Commission Against Corruption Act 1988, Mr Hatzistergos, 1 member nominated by the Leader of the Opposition and 1 member nominated by the Cross Bench Members be appointed to serve on the Committee as the Members of the Legislative Council. In the absence of any agreement the representation on the Committee is to be determined by the House. Nominations for membership of the Committee are to be in writing to the Clerk of the House within 7 days. The Committee is established under the ICAC Act 1988, and is the means by which the ICAC is accountable to the Parliament. The Committee monitors and reviews the ICAC's functions, annual reports and other reports it makes to Parliament. It examines the trends and changes in corrupt conduct.
