Background Paper 01/2020 by Antony Green
This paper provides two-party and two-candidate preferred results for the 2019 New South Wales election – by polling place, by pre-poll centre, and by declaration vote type. The publication is a companion to 2019 New South Wales Election: Analysis of Results (Background Paper No 1/2019) and the latest in a series first published by the Parliamentary Library after the 1991 election.

The publication also includes:

  • Tables of first preference results by polling place highlighting where the support for selected parties is weakest or strongest;
  • Tables disaggregating State-wide results by vote type; and
  • A table showing the proportion of votes taken by vote type at NSW elections since 1984. This table highlights the declining proportion of the vote taken on polling day, as well as the rise in the use of pre-poll voting.
