The Legislative Assembly's Transport and Infrastructure Committee is looking at the benefits of electric buses and barriers to their wider use on city and country public transport fleets.
The inquiry will consider what energy and infrastructure is needed to power electric bus fleets, and other emissions neutral energy sources.
"Electric buses are positive for our environment and have lower running costs", said Committee Chair
Robyn Preston MP. "They can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. The buses are also quieter which means a more pleasant journey for passengers".
The Committee is also keen to hear about how to support local manufacture and assembly of electric buses.
More information, including the inquiry’s terms of reference and how to make a submission, is on the Committee’s
webpage.
The closing date for submissions is 20 December 2019.
