As at 10 October 2022 (start of Term 4, 2022) there were 2,458.70 FTE vacant teaching positions across 1,264 New South Wales public schools, noting that approximately 1,000 schools have no vacancies. The number of permanent vacancies fluctuates throughout the year for a range of reasons, but most position movement occurs towards the end of the year. Vacancies include positions that are under recruitment for commencement in 2023, and are filled by existing permanent teachers or temporary staff while recruitment takes place. |
