161 - Treasurer - GOVERNMENT INVESTMENTS

Mookhey, Daniel to the Minister for Finance, and Minister for Employee Relations representing the Treasurer, and Minister for Energy

My question without notice is directed to the Leader of the Government, Minister for Finance, and Minister for Employee Relations in his own capacity and representing the Treasurer. Has the Government divested all of the $225 million worth of investments it made in Vladimir Putin's Russia, as promised by the Treasurer more than a month ago?

Original Answer -

The Hon. DAMIEN TUDEHOPE (Minister for Finance, and Minister for Employee Relations) (12:52:22): This is questions without notice. The member's question is more appropriately asked as a question on notice.

The Hon. Daniel Mookhey: Point of order: The question is in line with the standing orders, and the Minister is not allowed to debate the question.

The Hon. DAMIEN TUDEHOPE: I acknowledge the point of order.

The DEPUTY PRESIDENT (The Hon. Wes Fang): The Minister has the call.

The Hon. DAMIEN TUDEHOPE: What I will say to the member is that I am happy to receive the question. I am happy to come back to the member with the details that he is seeking. I can say no more.

Additional Answer -

I am advised:

TCorp has been implementing the Treasurer's direction, making significant progress on the divestment of the State's small exposure to Russian financial assets, despite the challenging market environment all global investors are currently experiencing. This includes having fully divested of Russian bonds.

TCorp will continue to pursue total divestment as per the Treasurer's direction, as liquidity and selling opportunities present themselves in the relevant asset markets.
