6997 - Treasurer - GOVERNMENT-OWNED VEHICLE

Mookhey, Daniel to the Minister for Finance and Small Business representing the Treasurer

(1) In the NSW Treasury, and all agencies within the NSW Treasury cluster:

(a) How many employees have a Government-owned vehicle?

(b) In the 2020/21 financial year:

(i) How many traffic offence related penalty notices, where a Government-owned vehicle was in use, were received?

(ii) What was the monetary value of penalty notices received, where a Government-owned vehicle was in use?

(c) What is the number of penalty notices paid by the Department, or relevant agency?

(d) What is the monetary amount of penalty notices paid by the Department, or relevant agency?

(e) Of penalty notices issued, how many were penalties for:

(i) Speeding, not more than 10 km/h?

(ii) Speeding, more than 10 km/h but not more than 20 km/h?

(iii) Speeding, more than 20 km/h but not more than 30 km/h?

(iv) Speeding, more than 30 km/h but not more than 45 km/h?

(v) Speeding, 45 km/h above the speed limit?

(vi) Failing to stop at a red light?

(vii) Failing to stop at a stop sign?

(viii) Using a mobile phone whilst driving?

(ix) Drink-driving?

(x) Drug-driving?

(f) In the 2020/21 financial year, how many insurance claims were made for a Government-owned vehicle?

(g) Of the insurance claims, how many were for:

(i) Vehicles in accidents where another party was at fault?

(ii) Vehicles in accidents where an employee was at fault?

(iii) Vehicles in accidents where fault couldn’t be determined?

(iv) A single vehicle accident?

(v) Theft of a vehicle?

(vi) Vandalism of a vehicle?

(vii) Weather damage?

Answer -

Treasury has advised me as follows:

In 2020-21 there were 3 leased fleet vehicles in the NSW Treasury Cluster, of that 2 were in Regional Trade that now fall under Investment NSW and 1 for State Super. All the vehicles are pooled and are not solely for use by 1 employee.

NSW Treasury does not pay any penalty notices.

In 2020-21, to the best to our knowledge there were no accidents or insurance claims in relation to these 3 vehicles
