Answer -

I am advised:

All NSW Government agencies must comply with Premier’s Memorandum M2016-04 and the NSW Government Core Legal Work Guidelines.

Treasury spent (that is core legal work) $19,354.01 in 2019-20 and $22,928.64 in 2020-21 contesting appeals to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) that related to Government Information Public Access (GIPA) Act applications.

The entire cost is attributable to external legal representation.

Further information can be found in the Department of Communities and Justice’s annual reports.
