Details about annual legal expenditure is publicly available in departmental annual reports and the NSW Government Legal Services Panel Annual Report.

The NSW Government’s Legal Services Panel is delivering value to taxpayers for important legal work which helps the government operate efficiently and effectively. By harnessing the combined purchasing power of its agencies, the Government has secured demonstrated benefits through improvement of Legal Panel Rates and volume discounts, value added services and streamlining of legal services procurement.

Claims and settlements are managed on a case by case basis in accordance with individual contractual requirements and relevant legislation including the Civil Liability Act 2002 (NSW), Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act 1998, Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999 and Industrial Relations Act 1996.
