940 - Health and Medical Research - ARMIDALE - REFUGEES

Mookhey, Daniel to the Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women representing the Minister for Health and Medical Research

(1) What support is being provided to the Armidale region following the settlement of 609 refugees in terms of:

(a) Interpretation services available for GPs, pharmacists and other allied health services and their patients?

(b) Translated medical information for GPs, pharmacists and other allied health services to provide to patients?

(c) Any other available health resources to support the newly migrated community?

(2) Are there any plans to incentivise an increase in General Practices in the Armidale region to deal with increased demand and speciality?

(a) If yes, what timeline is in place?

 

Answer -

(1) 

(a) – (c)

Annual funding is provided to the Hunter New England Local Health District for specialised refugee health services.

(2) Primary care is the responsibility of the Australian Government.
