Given recent discussion between Family and Community Services (FACS) in Bourke and local residents about setting up a hostel style facility that provides housing and food for children on weekends:

  1. What is the current position of FACS regarding this proposal?
Answer -

I am advised that there are a number of services that provide support to parents, children and families in Bourke. The best initial entry point for families is through the Bourke Maranguka Community Hub. Further information can be accessed at: www.justreinvest.org.au⁄the-maranguka-way⁄.

The Western Family Referral Service provides information about various support services in Bourke. More information can be accessed at: www.familyreferralservice.com.au.

In addition, the Bourke Homelessness and Housing Support Service operates the Bourke Women's and Children's Safe House. Further information can be accessed at: www.housing.nsw.gov.au.
