- The NSW and Commonwealth governments provide support in NSW in accordance
with the Intergovernmental Agreement on National Drought Program Reform (IGA)
which was signed by all jurisdictions in May 2013.
In February 2015 the NSW
Government introduced the NSW Drought Strategy, aligning to the IGA, which
introduced a range of initiatives available to all farmers including those in
Brewarrina. Since the beginning of 2015, over $900,000 in concessional
loans and $3,100 in Transport subsidies for Animal Welfare purposes have been
approved in the Brewarrina Shire.
- The Australian Government also provides significant assistance under the
Agreement across NSW. This includes concessional loans which are administered
by the NSW Rural Assistance Authority on their behalf. For the same period, the
value of approved commonwealth concessional loans for drought assistance in the
Brewarrina Shire was $2.42 million.
