To the President and Members of the Legislative Council, the petitioners of New South Wales state that this year the Greater Glider status was up listed from “vulnerable” to “endangered” under Commonwealth law as it faces extinction in the wild. In New South Wales the key threats to the Greater Glider are frequent and intense bushfires, inappropriate prescribed burning, logging, land clearing and climate change. The petitioners request that the House establish a committee inquiry to examine the Greater Glider's eligibility for listing as a threatened species, the development and implementation of a Greater Glider recovery plan and protection of Greater Glider habitat.
