To the President and Members of the Legislative Council, the petitioners of New South Wales and especially regional New South Wales state that violent crime, particularly in regional New South Wales, is escalating. The rights of citizens to defend their homes are insufficiently protected under the current laws. Police are unable to protect all persons at all times, and this poses a threat to lives and property. The petitioners request that the House pass Castle Law legislation that would provide residents of New South Wales the right to defend their property with whatever force is deemed appropriate.
