2929 - PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REFORMS

Donato, Philip to the Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

(1) Are there any plans for the Government’s prevention of domestic violence reforms to include prescribing a strict timeframe for the installation of security hardware and measures to the homes of persons in need of protection, being delivered through the “Staying at home leaving violence” program?

Answer -

I am advised that service providers develop local agreements with contractors for the installation of security upgrades and there are several factors that can impact timeframes outside of the service providers' control. The SHLV program is due for re-commissioning in 2025, during which, efficient contractor engagement and turn-around times for security installations will be considered.

I am aware of concerns raised by the family of Molly Ticehurst in relation to this matter and have asked The Cabinet Office to undertake a review of support services provided to Molly Ticehurst in the lead up to her death.
