With respect to the South Coast Line south of Kiama

(1) Is the Government committed to delivering the passing loop at Toolijooa on the South Coast Line?

(a) If yes, when will it be funded and when will it be delivered?

(2) With respect to the passing loop at Toolijooa, can you list all studies, reports and analysis undertaken by your department and will you make these documents available to the public?

(3) What conversations has your department had with New South Wales Treasury about the passing loop at Toolijooa?

(4) Has your department attempted to secure support for this project from New South Wales Treasury?

(a) If so, can you provide evidence of how your department has been working to secure funding?

(5) Is the Government committed to replacing the Endeavour Class trains on the South Coast Line?

(a) If yes, when will they be replaced and what will they be replaced with?

(6) Can the Minister provide a breakdown of the trips in question 5 by opal card type?

(7) Is the Government committed to delivering an upgrade of stations to take full advantage of the Toolijooa passing loop?

(a) If yes, which stations will be upgraded and when will these upgrades take place?

(8) With respect to the upgrade of Bomaderry station, will the Minister consult with the Bomaderry community and Shoalhaven City Council about integrating the upgrade of the station with the local streetscape?

(9) Can the Minister provide a breakdown of on-time running data for the last twelve months?

(10) Can the Minister provide a breakdown of how many unique trips have taken place on this line in the last twelve months?

(11) Will the Minister or her office meet with me to discuss the issues raised in this question?

Answer -

I am advised

(1) to (4) A Strategic Infrastructure Review of the State's current capital program is underway, including projects such as the Kiama to Bomaderry project.

(5) Yes.

(5) (a) Poor management by the former Liberal-National government led to significant time and cost over runs on the overseas built replacement rail fleet. The Spanish-built Regional Rail Fleet is publicly reported to be more than three years late and more than $1 billion over budget under the previous government. The Korean-built May rung Fleet was due to enter service in late 2019. It was reported under the previous government that cost overruns could exceed $1 billion.

A timeline for their delivery will be confirmed once the testing and assurance phase of the manufacturing is complete.

(6) The timeframe sought can not be determined in the question. A breakdown of the trips by opal card type is publicly available on the Transport for NSW website.

(7) This project is now subject to the Strategic Infrastructure review currently underway.

(8) The community has been notified about key onsite investigations. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
