7951 - ORTHOPAEDICS SURGEONS IN GRIFFITH

(1) At the Regional Health Forum in Griffith on 13 May 2022, you told the audience that Murrumbidgee Local Health District were currently negotiating with two orthopaedic surgeons who were prepared to come to Griffith. Can you confirm:

(a) By what exact date will these two orthopaedic surgeons commence work in Griffith?

(b) Will both orthopaedic surgeons be employed directly by the Murrumbidgee Local Health District as full-time surgeons based at the public Griffith Base Hospital?

(c) What involvement, if any, will St Vincent's Private Hospital have in regards to these two orthopaedic surgeons?

Answer -

(1) (a) – (c)

Murrumbidgee Local Health District has recruited two orthopaedic surgeons to provide public orthopaedic services in Griffith. The Visiting Medical Officers, based at the Griffith Base Hospital, will commence orientation in June. While the new Griffith Base Hospital Clinical Services Block is being built, the surgeons will be operating on public patients at the St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital, Griffith which is collocated on site with Griffith Base Hospital.
