COVID-19 EMERGENCY RELIEF

(1) Noting that the Commonwealth Government is responsible for income security and emergency relief funding, what advocacy has the Government carried out to ensure people on low incomes can afford rent, food and utilities during the pandemic?

(2) What assessment has the Government made of the need for ongoing support for vulnerable groups include people who are homeless, social housing tenants and international students;

(3) What further action will the Government take to encourage Commonwealth income support and emergency relief?

Answer -
COVID-19 EMERGENCY RELIEF

As part of our response to the current outbreak, we are making additional commitments of up to $5.1 billion which includes more than $1 billion from the Commonwealth. This includes support for residential tenants, those at risk of or experiencing homelessness and mental health programs.
