3686 - M5 EAST TOLL

Chanthivong, Anoulack to the Minister for Transport and Roads

What additional financial relief will the Government enact to address the over $3,300 disparity between the annual cost of the M5 East toll for daily commuters and the value of free registration under the Toll Relief Program?

Answer -

I am advised:

The Government built the M8 because the former government failed to deliver the M5 East with sufficient capacity to cope with future demand. Motorists on the M5 East previously stuck in some of the country's worst traffic congestion can now save time on their journey thanks to the additional capacity provided by the M8.

Frequent users of the M5 East and M8 are eligible for the Government's Toll Relief. Additionally, the Government has a range of more than 70 rebates and savings measures to help reduce the cost of living for residents. Information is available at www.service.nsw.gov.au/campaign/cost-living.
