Regarding TripView, TripGo and ArrivoSydney, the three applications developed for customers travelling on Sydney buses:

  1. Do the applications accurately track the arrival time of Sydney buses in bus regions 6-9 in the Eastern Region of Sydney?
  2. Do the applications accurately track the location of Sydney buses in bus regions 6-9 in the Eastern Region of Sydney?
  3. Are there any inherent faults in the applications that cause them to fail to provide commuters with full and accurate information as to the timetabling and location of their bus service?
  4. Since introducing the applications in December 2012, has the Department conducted a detailed review as to the reliability and effectiveness of these applications?
Answer -

We have delivered real time bus tracking and real time train apps for customers through smart phone applications. Seven real time apps are now available, including TripView, TripGo, Arrivo Sydney, Hidden City, Triptastic, Transit Times+ and Jaunt! Sydney. Customers can use their smart phones to locate where buses and trains are on their route and when they will arrive. They can also get directions to the closest bus stop and train station, as well as locate where to buy tickets.
