Is the Minister in considering the report of the Independent Local Government Review Panel, amending the Local Government Act to enable Councils to construct, fund and run light rail systems in their local government areas?

Answer -

I provide the following details in response to your questions:

The Government established the Independent Local Government Review Panel to investigate and identify options for governance models, structural arrangements, and boundary changes to strengthen local government in NSW.

The Independent Review Panel will present its final report and recommendations to the Government in September 2013. I will give full and careful consideration to the final recommendations of the Independent Review of Local Government once they are presented to the Government.
