8195 - CONTRACTS CANCELLED FROM THE SMART AND SKILLED SCHEME

Haylen, Jo to the Deputy Premier, Minister for Regional New South Wales, Minister for Skills, and Minister for Small Business
  1. Of the 46 operators whose contracts were cancelled from the Smart and Skilled scheme for failing to train students, were any located in the Summer Hill electorate?
    1. If so, how many?
  2. Across the scheme, how much of the $31.5 million involved has been reclaimed?
  3. Has the Government commenced legal action against any of the operators who were removed from the scheme?
Answer -

(1) None of the operators were located in the Summer Hill electorate.

(2) to (3) When a Smart and Skilled provider is suspended, all unprocessed claims for payment are withheld. When the quality assurance monitoring process is complete the evidence from the provider is reconciled against the withheld payments. If fraud or other criminal conduct is suspected, the matter will be referred to the relevant law enforcement agencies for investigation.
