2623 - PROPERTIES ACQUIRED FOR WESTCONNEX IN ST PETERS

  1. Can the Minister explain why properties have been compulsorily acquired by Roads and Maritime Services in St. Peters given that work on that stage of WestConnex is not scheduled to commence until 2017?
  2. Can the Minister explain why the Newtown police are patrolling empty properties that have been acquired by WestConnex and asking residents to inform them if these properties are populated by squatters?
  3. Has Roads and Maritime Services rented out any properties that have been compulsorily acquired for WestConnex prior to work commencing?
  4. Does Roads and Maritime Services intend to rent out any properties that have been compulsorily acquired for WestConnex?
Answer -

(1) Properties have been compulsorily acquired for the New M5 in accordance with the provisions of the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991 to provide site access to builders to ensure completion by December 2019.

(2) Some vacant properties have been patrolled to ensure the safety of the community.
